Ripples of Celebration

Day 54 February 23, 2014
CELEBRATE

“I’m going to believe in miracles, celebrate life, rejoice in the views of eternity and hope my choices will create a positive ripple effect in the lives of others. This is my choice.” ―Mike Ericksen

“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state–it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle…. Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one’s actions.”―Abraham Joshua Heschel, The Wisdom of Heschel

Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. -1 Corinthians 5:8

O Lord, Make me an instrument of celebration and praise.  May my song be as the glittering stars in heaven and my tune be gentle enough to heal the earth.  Amen.
