“Today we remember the people of Tajikistan in our prayers.  Tajikistan is a mountainous country in Central Asia.  After independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Tajikistan suffered a devastating civil war that lasted from 1992-1997.  Since the end of the war, newly established political stability and foreign aid have allowed the country’s economy, which is based on agriculture and mineral extraction, to grow. ”  -Community of Christ Daily Prayer for Peace:  http://www.cofchrist.org/prayerpeace/oct/2013/10Tajikistan.asp
