Prayer For Peace

Day 276  October 5, 2013

Oh God, Revive us with your peace.  May peace prevail in all peoples, in all nations,  in all creation.  Amen.

A Persian-speaking outpost in a predominantly Turkic region, Tajikistan is … a fragile patchwork of clans, languages and identities, forged together by … the shared hopes for a peaceful future. That peace was shattered in the 1990s, when a brutal civil war broke out and last five years. Though the wounds are still raw, more than a decade after the war most Tajiks are moving forward with their lives, as if awakening from a bad dream, and a mood of guarded optimism has returned. Prayer For Peace, October 10, 2013  

“Today we remember the people of Tajikistan in our prayers.  Tajikistan is a mountainous country in Central Asia.  After independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Tajikistan suffered a devastating civil war that lasted from 1992-1997.  Since the end of the war, newly established political stability and foreign aid have allowed the country’s economy, which is based on agriculture and mineral extraction, to grow. ”  -Community of Christ Daily Prayer for Peace:
