Epiphany and Hospitality

Day 6 – January 6, 2013

“Look in the kitchen and work with the first fruit or vegetable you spot…” from A Daily Creativity Journal by Noah Scalin

An over-ripe pineapple was waiting patiently on my kitchen counter today.  Perhaps it was no accident that today’s project was to work with fruit and my fruit was this pitiful pineapple.  Today is Epiphany in the liturgical calendar.  Epiphany celebrates the magi’s visit to the Baby Jesus and the gifts they brought of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  For me, it is a celebration of light and stars and the manifestation or revelation of God in human flesh through Jesus Christ.  So what could be more perfect than the traditional welcoming symbol of hospitality.  So to honor the day my raggedy old pineapple became a star!   ps:  I had fun playing with the photo to create more light and less shadows!
